Areruya Joseph claims second medal at Africa Championships

Joseph Areruya win a bronze medal at the U23 men’s individual time trial in the Continental Championships on Thursday.

He covered the 43km course in 56mins 55secs to claim his first individual medal at the Continental Championships.Debod Stefan of South Africa finished first and took good while Awit Habtom won the silver medal.

It was the second silver medal of the Continental Championships for Areruya who had previously medaled this year when he took bronze in the team tome trial.

"I am satisfied with bronze.This is a continental event,so there are many top riders anf everyone wants a medal.Hopefully it will gold next year."said Areruya

In other events, Valens Ndayisenga finished fifth in the elite men’s individual time trial while Jeanne D’Arc Girubuntu,who was returning to racing after recovering from an injury,finished eight in the women’s individual time trial.

Areruya Joseph and his teammates will have a chance to prove their stufd again on Sunday when they tackle the 169km course in the elite men and U23 road race.
